    Lumen et Ombra explores the boundary between the visible and the invisible, between traditional portraiture and its digital metamorphosis. Through a process that merges photography, artificial intelligence, and programming, these ascetic and noble figures exist in a dual dimension: the physical artwork and its hidden transformation, revealed only through technology. Time does not fix them—it reshapes them.

Partendo dalla serie fotografica Artemisia, l’intelligenza artificiale, addestrata sulle immagini originali, rielabora i volti umani e li innesta in scenari ispirati ai paesaggi di Leonardo da Vinci, reinterpretati in chiave contemporanea.

    Per la prima volta, Matteo Basilé introduce la realtà aumentata nel suo lavoro, trasformando le opere in esperienze vive e interattive. Attraverso lo schermo di un dispositivo, i ritratti si espandono oltre la loro superficie, rivelando livelli nascosti di significato. Intermundia non è solo una serie di immagini, ma un territorio sospeso tra i mondi, dove memoria e innovazione, arte e tecnologia si fondono per creare una nuova dimensione estetica.

    Floramagnifica di Matteo Basilé è un viaggio visivo tra natura e umanità, dove l’artista riscrive i codici dell’ibridazione iconografica. Al centro del progetto c’è un DNA femminile immaginario, che attraversa 21 generazioni ideali, simboleggiando una femminilità eterna e resiliente.
    Basilé utilizza l’intelligenza artificiale, da lui stesso addestrata, per creare ritratti che non solo mostrano il visibile, ma scavano nell’anima dei soggetti. Le opere, in bianco e nero, hanno una forza solenne e atemporale, con dettagli botanici onirici che trasformano i fiori in estensioni dei corpi umani.
    Richiamando la ritrattistica fiamminga per cura e dettaglio, Floramagnifica ci conduce in un mondo sospeso tra sacro e profano, dove l’identità si fonde con la natura. Basilé costruisce così un linguaggio nuovo, che unisce arte, tecnologia e spiritualità, invitandoci a guardare oltre la superficie delle cose.

Con Pholisma Sonorae, Matteo Basilé ridefinisce il concetto di ritratto contemporaneo, spingendolo verso un territorio liminale dove identità, tecnologia e percezione si incontrano. Questo primo video-ritratto, interamente realizzato con l’ausilio dell’intelligenza artificiale, rappresenta un punto di convergenza tra l’esperienza artistica e l’esplorazione simbolica di uno spazio oltre il visibile. Basilé, attraverso l’addestramento della sua AI con un archivio personale di immagini e testi, costruisce una sintesi unica che fonde l’intimo e il collettivo, l’umano e il digitale, la memoria e il futuro.

Al centro dell’opera troviamo un’estetica contaminata, che si ispira alla natura transgenica del fungo. Questi organismi – ponti simbolici tra mondi biologici e filosofici – diventano qui il fulcro di un’analisi visiva che richiama l’esperienza lisergica, simile agli stati di percezione alterata generati dalla psilocina. Come in un viaggio psichedelico, le immagini si stratificano, moltiplicano e deformano, evocando un ritratto non lineare, capace di sfuggire alla fissità e alla descrizione tradizionale.

In Pholisma Sonorae, il ritratto non è solo il racconto di un’identità ma la manifestazione di un flusso. Ogni frame cattura un istante in mutazione, una porzione di quel territorio immaginario che Basilé definisce attraverso una grammatica digitale personale. La tecnologia, qui, diventa un mezzo poetico, una "sostanza aumentata" che amplifica l’estetica e trasforma l’intelligenza artificiale in un alleato creativo, un interprete visionario del linguaggio dell’artista.
